My iPad won't keep my Google account.

I need to connect to a Google calendar as well as my family calendars. My Mac, my wife's Mac, my iPhone, my wife's iPhone and my old iPad could connect to it without any problem. But I recently replaced my iPad with an iPad pro.

The Calendar app doesn't see the Google calendar. I went to Settings/Mail, Contacts, Calendars/ and clicked on Add Account. I selected "Google", logged in and got the screen where I could switch everything off except for the calendar - for about half of a second, before the screen went back to "Add Account". The account didn't get added.

But I *did* get an e-mail from Google saying "New sign-in from iPad".

It just doesn't stick on the iPad the way it does with my other devices.

Any suggestions of what to try next?

Try resetting your Mail Account.

First close your Mail App completely from the app switcher window by double clicking the Home button and swiping up the Mail preview pane until it disappears from the screen.

Then go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > locate your email provider, click on the account and swipe to Delete.

Then restart the device this way: hold down the Home and Wake/Sleep buttons at the same time for about 15 seconds until the Apple logo appears.

Then go back to Settings > Mail… and add the account again following the steps in the link and see if it holds this time.

I have several other accounts, the one that I use only for calendar is the only one missing. Deleting and re-creating all of the other accounts might be worth it if it solved the problem. But I'll wait a while before spending all evening on something that may or may not work. Thanks for the advice. If and when I do try it - I will start off with Google, and if that doesn't work, restore from backup.

You have this account working on other devices. You can look in the settings on one of them to get the right information. I assume you have the account name and password. You need to know if you're using IMAP or POP3, what the server names are for send and receive, the port numbers for send and receive, whether you need SSL (probably), and what the security requirements are on your logins.

My Google account didn't stick, so I thought you meant turning off the other accounts.

No, of course. The other accounts should not affect Google. Are you able to log on to your Google account from a browser like Safari? If so, and I presume you will, there is nothing wrong with the account. You may have to configure it manually and would have to contact Google for the settings. Google normally sets up automatically without issues by following the steps I recommended. Did you try them in the order I suggested?
